Day 186-February 28, 2011

Yesterday I wanted bibimbap (rice veggies red pepper paste and eggs maashed together) so i went to down to the restaurant below my house. I asked the lovely ajumma, "포장하요" please wrap it up, so i can take it up to my apartment. She said to me, not w/ dolsto bibimbap, you in fact need a dolsot pot (the black pot) to cook in. So she said, take it upstairs to your apartment, eat and then bring it back. I'm not sure stuff like that would fly back home. An easy meal for under 5 dollars. I may never cook again.

Day 185- February 27, 2011

"OOOOOOHHH were half way there, oh OH livin on a prayer!"
So today marks the 6 month anniversary of my arrival in Korea, and even more exciting,  only half a year until I get to kiss the ground at O'hare. I'm sure theres a better picture to sum up how i'm feeling but what can you do.  Today, as my reward for going to korean class, despite the ran and lack of sleep was to buy myself some converse, which I've been debating whether or not to buy for like 4 years. I finally succumbed to the trend (which actually seems a bit timeless) and bought them! Yay, now i can rock out to bon jovi in my cute new converse!

Any guess as to what this is?

Day 183- February 25, 2011

Tea and an open notebook in Insadong, a traditional area of Seoul. Played hookie (my coteacher told  me I should "take a rest") and did some wondering/shopping. It was a pretty relaxing day.

My dear Jian receiving a rose to thank her for all her hard work at Pyeongtaek Middle School. Tonight was the teacher goodbye dinner filled with many tears as almost half our teachers were leaving for greener pastures. I will miss Jian so much, she has been something between a mom and a sister to me, and helped me with everything I've needed while in Korea. I'm not quite sure what i will do without her!

Day 179- February 21, 2011

I walk by this puppy everyday on the way to work. In all weather he is out in that house, with a bowl of whatever it's owners had for dinner last night, sad cold and chained up. It really depresses me. Koreans really do not treat their pets very well. I kind of want to take him home and let him be mine.

Day 178- February 20, 2011

Did Meredith Gray ever think that her brilliant line would sell underwear on black mannequins in Korea?

Day 177- February 19, 2011

Only in Korea do you get Diet Coke with two straws. Because what is more romantic then sharing a soft drink?

Day 170- February 12, 2011

A lot of streets look like this. Garbage removal in Korea  needs a makeover. I think this, in addition to pollution and sewage contributes to the lovely smelling air I breathe everyday.

Hold your horses there Korea, I'm not getting out my flip flops just yet.

A little Thai boy i met on the bus to Phuket. He was super shy at first and by the end was sitting on my lap.  He loved playing the "you tickle me, I run away...and then come back for more" game. AAAAAdorable.
