Day 217- March 31, 2011

I love my coteacher, Yong-Cha's idea of "Brunch."Fried breakfast potatoes, rice and strawberries with lettuce. A far car from a real brunch of lox and bagels from once upon. I absolutely love her for her sentiment though.

Day 216- March 30, 2011

So I've been really bored lately, and decided this week was "pampering week." I've been contemplating permanently straightening my hair for a long time as everyone compliments me when it's straight, but not so much when it's curly. So i figured, why not, I'm in Korea and the process is a fourth of the price than in the US. So bye bye curls, maybe i'll see you again in 6-12 months.

Day 215- March 29, 2011

This is Jim Dakk which is spicy chicken terriyaki (essentially) with noodles, and is so delicious. Emily told me about it, and for months I've been wanting to go to a restaurant and try it. Finally, I convinced Brooke to go with me after our 5K jog and it was ever bit as delicious as I imagined!

Day 214- March 28, 2011

I know I always post my mom's packages, and you probably don't care, but it's monday and theres not much to blog about. Plus my first tufts apparel annnnddd SAMOSAs. happy day!

Day 213- March 27, 2011

7 months (5 month countdown woooooo)

Day 212- March 26, 2011

Korean Baseball at Jamsil Stadium was something akin to color days at camp. I will obviously say it's got nothing on Wrigley (no stadium in the world does). It was a completely Korean experience in that the cheering never ended, kpop songs filled the air, vender food was not (as you would think) hot dogs but fried chicken [because all american related events must naturally involve KFC]. Each team sits on separate sides and they cheer to the sounds of drums and dances by scantily clad korean dancers. Sorry the picture is so bad, I forgot my camera (and therefore couldn't video the ridiculousness) but i will probably go back again in the summer time and you'll understand a bit more of what i'm talking about!

Day 211- March 25, 2011

Brooke and Will at dinner on Friday night. We ate at an amazing all you can eat BBQ for 12,000 won (12 dollars).  I ate enough food to last me 3 days it was amazing. There was fish, meat, pork, chicken, sushi, salad, soup, ice cream, side dishes. This is a very dangerous place. The company was wonderful and I hope I can go back again (but not too soon).

Day 210- March 24, 2011

It's almost april Korea... COMMON!

Day 209- March 23, 2011

sometimes, i take kinda pretty pictures

Day 208- March 22, 2011

As I was leaving today, this is what I saw. My student put his  shoes, pants and  coat on backwards, then decided to sport a scream mask. Crazy kiddos.

Day 207- March 21, 2011

I just found skim milk! Hazaahh!

Day 206- March 20, 2011

Apparently "Free Hugs" signs are still cool, although i'm not quite sure why they ever were.

Day 205- March 19, 2011

Celebrating St. Patty's Day in Seoul!

Day 204- March 18, 2011

Family Mart Fridays are back (albeit, a bit cold)!

Day 203- March 17, 2011

Just wanted to express my frustration at Korea today. I really do love the country and all the people I've met. The experiences are amazing, and I'm growing a lot.. But some days (a few more as of recent), you just want to look like this!

Day 202- March 16, 2011

Just a pretty picture I took a while back. I have to say I do not miss the snow.

Day 201- March 15, 2011

I know it's not a picture, but it thought it would be worthwhile to share.

Day 200!- March 14, 2011

Korean graffiti is like this everywhere. A lot of people really like each other.

Day 199- March 13, 2011

White Day in Korea: So I may have miss spoken on Valentines day. On valentines day the girls give the boys chocolate. On white day, the boys have to give the girls candy. Don't you just love made up holidays?

Day 198- March 12, 2011

Some of the pretty flowers I reward myself with for going to Korean class every Sunday. I like flowers.

Day 197- March 11, 2001

I've been a little stuck on blogging ideas lately, but I thought I would tell you a bit about Hagwans (Academy). Basically, Korean parents think that the intense riggors of an 8 hour school day in addition to all the high pressures from tests and school entrance exams are not enough to keep their students challenged.  So they decide to send their students to private tutors or small academic classes ranging from english/science/math focus, or general studies. The students basically leave school at 4:30 then go to hagwan until 10:00. It is expensive, and exhausting for these kids!

Day 196- March 10, 2011

"Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got till it's gone"
Today I received my much awaited package of american foodstuffs from home including:
Jacki's homemade brownies
Oatmeal
Girlscout cookies
Almond Butter
Matzoball soup
Whole wheat toritllas
Hummus
Pita Chips (Though i requested pita bread...nice mom)
Oregano, Basil, Garlic Salt

and the best was the squished banana bread that had become a temporary home for little wormies.

THANKS MOM

Day 195- March 9, 2011

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Day 194- March 8, 2011

Oriental medicine at it's finest, attempting to cure my common cold. The stuff  in the white packet is the most vial thing I've ever tasted.

Day 193- March 7, 2011

At our latest teacher dinner, my friend made the effort to cut off the burnt part of the meat arguing that it causes cancer. I promptly laughed at this notion, but apparently many Koreans think its true. What's your take?

Day 192- March, 6, 2011

Korean street food cart.

Day 191- March 5, 2011

Check out this sick american style party spread. French onion dip, sausage and cheese, ruffles and girl scout cookies. heaven.

Day 190- March 4, 2011

Wonder how the mail gets delivered in Korea? On mopeds of course.

Day 189- March 3, 2011

Korea loves to be adorable. I also really like this quote.

Day 188- March 2, 2011

What kind of bar would I never bother going to? That's right, an overpriced water bar. They invented water fountain to serve that purpose.

Day 187- March 1, 2011

Korea, I'm diggin your artsy aesthetic
