11 Months in- One Crazy whirlwind month to go! Holy Moly!
| There were torrential rains last night! This is what a lot of Korea looks like today :( |
| Did I ever tell you about fan death? So Koreans animately believe that you can attribute a death to having a fan stay on in a room. I believe I have taken about 8 years off mine because it's been on since may circulating the smelly air that comes with my old un-vented smelly apartment |

| Here I am! Did you miss me? |
| Gosh I love this picture! |
| So if you know me even a little bit, you know that me and electronics don't coincide well. Usually, I have more of a hardware issue and basically as soon as I touch something, it becomes "ghettofied." For example, my backspace key on my netbook is missing, my blackberry trackball had to be replaced 3 times, i've ruined not 1 but 2 cameras do to water damage etc etc etc. Recently, my touch screen phone just up and stopped working, and I thought "awesome Lauren, one month before you have to return your phone, nice going." Well apparently, you just have to go to the service center, and ten minutes later they replace your touch screen for the grand total of NOTHING. I will miss glorious services like this in Korea! |

Fancy dutch coffee. Who knew it existed in Korea.
(as opposed to this)

| This. IS. Mudfest. |
| Daechon beach at night. The calm before the mudfest storm! |
| This is what drinking culture in Korea looks like! |
| I just like this picture, it's from way back in April when i went to Gyeongju to see cherry blossoms! |
| They'll probably be mad at me, but I liked this picture! (and i'm running out of things to blog about). |
| Koreans believe the most effective way to deal with summer heat is to "fight fire with fire." For our teacher dinner we were supposed to get steaming hot Samgyetang (chicken ginseng soup) which i was ecstatic for because it's one of my favorite Korean foods. But when we got there and most of the food had been put out, the owner told us the food was bad and we would have to go. Instead we had what the picture is... firey hot ground fish soup :( |
| Fried chicken on top, coke on the bottom = awesomeness! |
| Korean Wedding Hall for teacher dinner. This isn't a great photo but basically there were 4 table of buffet food plus that sushi bar in the back (don't be too jealous, sushi is a bit different in Korea). Wedding halls are the huge mass productions where you shuttle guests in and out and they basically pay money to eat at the wedding. It's definitely very "cookie cutter." |

| One of the mentally disabled students has somehow taken a liking to me. We obviously can't speak to each other as he has no grasp of English, which makes for some really awkward encounters. Regardless, he brings me fans and necklaces and straightens out my desk (putting things in places I didn't necessarily want them, haha). He is such a sweet heart and it's amazing how some people don't need many words to have a relationship (maybe that's where I've been going wrong the whole time). |
| This is how i spend my days.... |
| My weak attempt at capturing fireworks on the army base for the Fourth of July. |
| Lake for the weekend in Anseong (near Pyeongtaek). |
| I know some pretty awesome people! |
| Today (actually 6 days from now) I heard some very very exciting news!! |
| A gorgeous view of my hood from the roof garden of AK plaza. I love summer. |
| My kryptonite. I'm pretty sure these have contributed to my exponential korea induced weight gain. yummmmm |
| Check out this super cool shot called a "blue sky." It's made out of curacao, baileys, 151, vodka and something else. you light it on fire and drink from a straw. It was my first fire shot and lots of fun. |
