Today I got a "Dr. Fish" pedicure. You literally put your feet in the water and the fish start eating away at your dead skin. It's a really funny/ ticklish sensation but once you get used to it, it's kind of nice. In addition, i got the most amazing manicure and pedicure ( a 3 1/2 hour process) for only 35 dollars. I will be heading back to escape spa again soon :)

***3 Month Anniversary...1/4 of the way though!

Day 76-November 11, 2010

Wheres my Peppero?!??!
11-11 is Peppero day in Korea. The little wafer sticks with chocolate look like the number one, so on November 11, people give peppero to friends, boy/girlfriends, teachers etc to show that they care. It's pretty much like valentines day. I was so excited about this holiday and bought some for some of my students and coteachers. Unfortuneately, I discovered that with boys in middle school, all the cool kids don't give Peppero. So guess what, Lauren teacher got no Peppero.

:( SAD FACE :(

Day 75- November 10, 2010

Seoul City Lantern Festival to honor G20 Summit

Day 74- November 9, 2010

Koreans feel the need to proclaim to the world that they are a couple. How do they go about doing that? Why couple shirts of course! This is extremely common.

Day 73- November 8, 2010

So you may be wondering why i'm showing you a picture of this directional arrow. Well, this blog post is going to have to be more writing oriented because if you follow that arrow, the picture gets a little X-rated. So first, I'm going to explain a hot spring. These are natural hot and cold bodies of water that come from the mountains and are full of different beneficial minerals. I went to my first one in Israel:

...well this one was a little different. It did not smell like sulfer was indoors and had a lot of different little pools....But i'm avoiding the point..... Osaek Hot Springs in Korea, was a bathing suit free zone. Yes in Korea it is completely normal for people to strip down and dive in. So when in Rome...I was definitely a little apprehensive about it, but once we got in there, it was surprisingly eye opening and empowering. It was amazing to realize how much women hate their bodies, and are always trying to change and perfect them, yet in this room, fat and imperfections just didn't matter. We also had a nice moment when a bunch of the foreigners got together in the outdoor spring and were just introducing ourselves and saying where we were from like it was no big deal. It was really cool too how there were all different kinds of pools: hot ones, cold ones, iron ones, neon purple ones, a steam room and a ridiculously hot sauna. The girls were joking about how it was like Disneyland and we didn't know which one to ride first. Most importantly, it was just super relaxing and nice to calm our muscles after a long days hike. So Korea continues to offer me experiences that open my mind to new ways of living and seeing the world, and this is one life experience I will never forget.

Day 72- November 7, 2010

Hiking the smaller but equally beautiful mountain on Sunday

Day 71- November 6, 2010

I'm going to let most of the Seoraksan National Park pictures speak for themselves.

Koreans tend to stop midway up the mountain and park it (in their colorful hiking gear)  with some rice wine and a whole Korean meal!

We waited in line for 1 hour to get to the peak. Only in Korea.

We got to the top!
Theres little spots on the path up the mountain where you can get food and rice wine. Here is the hiking group saying "Konbei" (Cheers) over some Makoli (Rice Wine).

Day 70- November 5, 2010

TGI.... Fridays... yes we actually ate there.
Ginormous Pina Colada
Three hungry girls ordered 3 salads, french fries, potato wedges, onion rings, nachos and a hot fudge sunday.
And we owned it!!

Great pre-hiking, celebrate the weekend feast!
